Loons Top Shuckers to Even Record

The Minnesota Loons defeated the Biloxi Shuckers, 6-5, at The Pizza Oven today. Leading the charge for Minnesota was shortstop Alejandro Cantú. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Minnesota reliever Joe Smith was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Félix Fernández took the loss. Manny Crespo was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Had Skip Giblet not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Giblet hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Loons.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Cantú.
The Loons sit in 6th place in the Silver AA with a record of 33-33.
