Hops Fall to .500 After Loss to Blue Sox

The Irving Blue Sox scored a 3-2 win versus the Yakima Hops at Blue Sox Ballpark. Irving pitcher Greg Poe nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Poe got the win, improving to 6-6. He allowed 7 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. Poe allowed 2 earned runs. Irving now has a 3-game win streak.
Nick McGhee had a big run-scoring double for the Blue Sox in the bottom of the third inning. With Irving leading 2-0 and a runner on 3rd, he got a fastball from Jamie Hunter and stroked the double to center. It was his 15th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blue Sox ahead, 3-0.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Irving manager Dave Lee.
