5 Straight Wins for Whales
A 3-RBI performance from first baseman Pat Geldart, who is tied for 4th in the SAA with a .940 OPS, led the Virginia Beach Whales to a 4-2 win over the Akron Blimps. Virginia Beach reliever John Stevens picked up the win to move to 2-1. Forest Bell suffered the loss. Virginia Beach has run its win streak to 5 in a row.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Jamal Grant was at the plate when Virginia Beach scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Whales to go in front, 3-2.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Virginia Beach manager Bernie Drake. "Our pregame was pretty good."
