Blimps Lose, 4-2, at Virginia Beach Grounds
|
The Virginia Beach Whales stymied the Akron Blimps, 4-2, at Virginia Beach Grounds. Pat Geldart, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He was 1-2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Virginia Beach. Kenny Hunt earned the save for Virginia Beach, his 11th of the year. Virginia Beach now has a 3-game win streak.
Geldart had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a full count circle change from Buzzy Grossman, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Whales a 4-2 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Geldart.
"We did a lot of things right," said Geldart.
