The Irving Blue Sox picked up a win at Blue Sox Ballpark, knocking off the Lancaster Farmers, 8-4. Starting pitcher Miguel Pérez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Bob Bolen, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save. Irving now sits in last place in the Silver AA at 21-36.
Nick McGhee hit a 2-run double off Gijsbert van Veen in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Blue Sox in front, 3-1. In addition to the double, McGhee had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"Good pitching stops good hitting," said McGhee. "And vice-versa."
