Shuckers Go Down to Defeat, 8-0
|
The Pizza Oven was the site for USSL Double A action featuring the Biloxi Shuckers and Virginia Beach Whales.
Biloxi had no answer for Virginia Beach Whales starter Ed Alexander, who flummoxed Shuckers hitters as the Whales cruised to a 8-0 victory. Alexander went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-1. Arvid Alberink was credited with the save for Virginia Beach, his 1st of the season.
Virginia Beach used the bat of Sergio San Martín to get the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Whales ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," San Martín said after the game.
Virginia Beach is now 25-31. Biloxi is 24-32.
