Hops Fall to .500 After Loss to Whales
|
Virginia Beach got a strong outing from Miguel Núñez as the Whales defeated the Yakima Hops, 5-2, at Virginia Beach Grounds. Reliever Bu-wei Zhenya picked up the win. His record improves to 1-2. José Elizondo took the loss. The save was credited to Kenny Hunt, his 9th.
Virginia Beach took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With no one out, shortstop Scott French hit a 2-run home run that electrified the crowd.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Núñez said after the game.
The Whales sit in 7th place in the Silver AA with a record of 24-30.
