The Durham Rapiers bested the Biloxi Shuckers by a score of 9-5, with second baseman Gene Blanton getting the main credit. On the day, Blanton went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Rapiers. The Rapiers go to 28-20, putting them second in the Silver AA.

The Rapiers beat the Shuckers with some clutch hitting. The single by Scott Pearson in the bottom of the second is a good example. With two down, Pearson gave his team the lead, 2-0, when he came through with the big hit.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Pearson told the Durham Today.
