Blue Sox Get Close Win Over Whales
|
The Blue Sox faced a stiff challenge from Virginia Beach pitcher Cody Wilson, but persevered to claim a win at Virginia Beach Grounds. The final score was 3-2. Wilson went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs. Frank Butler was called on to finish, recording his 1st save. The Blue Sox' win now puts them at 16-24.
Irving used the timely hitting of José García to capture the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blue Sox on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but he made it count.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Virginia Beach manager Bernie Drake, "let me know."
