Rainbow Mermaids Come Back Late to Top Patriots
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids eked out a 7-6 win versus the Boston Patriots at Atlantica. Nobody did more than second baseman Mario Castillo, who captured player of the game honors. Northern Virginia reliever Kent Randall got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Jorge Gil was tagged with the loss. Northern Virginia has a 3-game win streak, while Boston has lost 3 in a row.
Eustacio Tafalla had the critical at-bat for Northern Virginia. With one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, he reached on an error by the right fielder, driving in 1 run. It gave Northern Virginia the 7-6 walk-off win.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Castillo told the Northern Virginia Times.
