Late Rally by Voodoo Secures Win
|
The New Orleans Voodoo beat the Las Vegas Flamingos, 7-3, at The Strip. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Jorge Alejándrez, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The win was Joe Khokar's in relief. His record improves to 1-3. Dermot Eridge took the loss for Las Vegas. With the win, New Orleans has a record of 46-38. Las Vegas falls to 24-60.
New Orleans used the timely hitting of Danny Trautmann to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Voodoo on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I felt good up there," said Trautmann. "I saw the ball well."
