Highlanders Knock Off Blues at Blues Field
Behind a solid performance from left fielder Luis Romero, the Asheville Highlanders defeated the Barton Springs Blues, 9-5. Romero was 4 for 4 with 4 singles and 2 walks for the Highlanders. Asheville reliever David Fuentes picked up the win to move to 5-1. Alastair England suffered the loss. The Highlanders raised their record to 54-38.

Dean Barthorpe went 1-5 with a walk for Asheville. The 25-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Rafael Santiago. It was his 51st walk of the season.

"Enjoyed this one," Barthorpe told the Asheville News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
