The Columbia River Rats got a superb performance from pitcher Rubén Santana. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Caldwell. The Chiefs won the game, 5-3. In spite of the loss, Santana was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. The winner was Edwin Meadows, who threw 94 pitches over 7.1 innings. Caldwell needed the clutch hitting of Diego Alejandro Secada to notch the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Chiefs on top, 5-3. For the game, Secada had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Enjoyed this one," Secada told the Caldwell News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
