Fans of the Yucca Valley Yellows who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Yucca Valley win over the visiting Levittown Blue Dragons, 5-3. Robinson Martínez started for the home team against Edward Martin. Edward Martin earned the coveted player of the game honors. Robinson Martínez got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Bungay Osiman recorded the save for Yucca Valley, his 1st of the season.
Rick Pawlowicz was 1 for 2 with a double and a walk. He drove in 3 runs for Yucca Valley. The 21-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jing-sheng Bian. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.
"This was a good win," said Pawlowicz.
