Clark Excels, But Highlanders Win
|
Asheville and Bethesda duked it out at Asheville Park and the Highlanders came out victorious.
Bethesda got a terrific performance from center fielder Troy Clark, but it wasn't enough to beat the Asheville Highlanders. Asheville won the Asheville Park contest, 7-4. Clark was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The 4th-place Highlanders have won 4 straight.
Asheville took a 5-4 lead on Luis Romero's 77th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Romero hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Bethesda pitcher Virgil Dickerson visibly frustrated.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Romero.
