Rails Turn Back Asheville, 3-2
|
The Richland Rails topped the Asheville Highlanders, 3-2, in M3L Double A action at Rails Ballpark. The player of the game was Richland pitcher and Rotterdam, The Netherlands native Felix Klapwijk. Richland reliever Mathis Vial was credited with the win, to go to 3-0. Michael White took the loss for Asheville. The save was credited to Muoi Hoan, his 14th.
Had Jon Walker not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Walker hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Rails.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Walker.
Richland has now won 4 straight.
