Polar Bears Subdue Highlanders, 3-1
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Roberto Guerrero, the Billings Polar Bears defeated the Asheville Highlanders, 3-1. Guerrero was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Polar Bears. Billings reliever César Luna was the winner. His record is now 3-3. The losing pitcher was David Fuentes. Franck Perrault, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save.
Billings took a 3-1 lead on Guerrero's 12th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off David Fuentes in the bottom of the seventh, propelled Billings to the win.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Polar Bears manager Ronald Harmon, "I like our chances."
The Polar Bears are now 33-37, while the Highlanders fall to 40-30.
