The Marquette Miners beat the Bethesda Atoms, 5-4, in 11 innings. Marquette left fielder Lester Threlfall merited player of the game honors with his performance. He was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs and a triple, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The second-place Miners have won 5 straight.
Threlfall had a game-changing home run in the top of the 11th. On a first pitch fastball from Jeffery Clayton, he banged a solo home run to left-center, giving the Miners a 5-4 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Threlfall.
