Victory Over Nationals Takes Marquette to 42-27
|
The Marquette Miners turned back the Ottawa Nationals, 5-4, at Nationals Park. Grover Barbaran was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 2-4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. The save was credited to Javier Benavides, his 11th. The Miners have now won 4 straight.
Had Eduard Argelander not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Argelander hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Miners.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Ottawa manager Fernando Gonzáles. "But we decided not to take it."
