Warner Helps Nationals Beat Atoms
|
The Ottawa Nationals topped the Bethesda Atoms, 7-2, with designated hitter Alex Warner playing a big role. Warner went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Nationals in the win. Ottawa starter Noah Askew was credited with the win after throwing 89 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 3-0. The 8th-place Nationals are now 28-34, the Atoms 23-39.
Ottawa took a 2-0 lead on Warner's 8th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Yeow-whye Gao in the top of the sixth, propelled Ottawa to the win.
After the game, Warner refused to speak to a reporter for the Ottawa Citizen. "You've accused me of throwing teammates under the bus," he said. "So, excuse me if I decline to answer your questions."
