Rails Clip Eclipse, 2-1
|
The Richland Rails took Northville pitcher Lance Farmer's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Old-Timers Park. The final score had Richland getting past the Eclipse, 2-1. Farmer went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 6. Mathis Vial got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. Ryan Neal earned the save, his 1st, for the Rails.
Had Richard Forrest not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases empty, Forrest hit a solo home run. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Rails.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Forrest.
The second-place Rails raised their record to 32-21.
