The Asheville Highlanders got a sterling performance from first baseman Dean Barthorpe, but the Polar Bears still prevailed, 7-6. Barthorpe was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Reliever Félix Cordero picked up the win. His record improves to 3-2. De Dion-Bouton took the loss. Franck Perrault earned the save, his 4th.

Had Hsui-chuan Tsou not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Tsou hit a 2-run double. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Polar Bears.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Tsou.

With the win over Asheville, the Polar Bears improved to 25-27.
