Gomillion Goes Wild, But Rainbow Mermaids Win
|
Portland got a terrific performance from left fielder Vicente Gomillion, but it wasn't enough to beat the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids. Northern Virginia won the Atlantica contest, 11-7. Gomillion was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. With the win over Portland, the Rainbow Mermaids improved to 35-41.
Manoo Satyavrat, who finished 4th in the PL in stolen bases with 39 in 2036, contributed to the Northern Virginia win with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 5 runs batted in.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Satyavrat said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
