Threlfall goes 3-for-4 to Pull Miners to .500
|
The Marquette Miners beat the Bethesda Atoms, 9-1, at Marquette Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder Lester Threlfall, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. The Miners now have a record of 20-20.
Threlfall had a game-changing single in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-2 fastball from Yeow-whye Gao, he banged a 2-run single to right, giving the Miners a 3-1 lead. It was the 49th hit of the year for Threlfall.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Marquette manager Christos Galpin.
