Shredders Get 7-2 Win Versus Portland
The Hollywood Shredders stymied the Portland Evergreens, 7-2, at Evergreen Park. Kanko Umaba, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He went 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for Hollywood. Joy-shan Men got the win, improving to 10-3. He held the Evergreens to 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 3. Hollywood is now 34-41, Portland 34-41.

Hollywood used the timely hitting of Sayed Walid to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Shredders on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Hollywood manager Bill Cheese.
