Fur Traders Come Back Late, Nip Polar Bears
|
The Billings Polar Bears got a superb performance from designated hitter Roberto Guerrero. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Tacoma. The Fur Traders won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Guerrero was named the player of the game. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. Tacoma reliever Álex Ortíz picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Eliseo Fontirroig took the loss. Tacoma has a 3-game win streak, while Billings has lost 3 in a row.
Tacoma used the timely hitting of Hiroshige Ohashi to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Fur Traders on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Billings manager Ronald Harmon. "But we decided not to take it."
