Halberds Win at Hialeah, 9-7
|
The Alloway Halberds downed the Hialeah Dodos, 9-7, at Dodos Ballpark. The Halberds were led by Ánibal Leobardo, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Alloway reliever Alex Calhoun was credited with the win, to go to 2-3. Wu-shiun Lao took the loss for Hialeah. Chun-yeong Byung-Ho was called on to finish, recording his 24th save.
With Alloway leading 7-6 in the top of the sixth, Leobardo hit a forkball from Wu-shiun Lao for a 2-run single. It was his 53rd hit of the season and put the Halberds ahead, 9-6.
"We take it day by day here," said Leobardo, "and today was a good one for us."
Alloway is now 54-46, Hialeah 35-65.
