White Walkers Score Late to Upend Flamingos, 7-6
|
The Buffalo White Walkers defeated the Las Vegas Flamingos, 7-6. Earning player of the game honors was left fielder Dread Roberts, who was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Kenji Aoki got the save, the 17th for him this season. The last-place Flamingos have lost 6 consecutive games.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Tom Smythe came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Las Vegas pitcher Morris Prinkey, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Buffalo on top, 7-6.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Buffalo manager Chris Lau.
