Miners Edge Fur Traders, 1-0
|
The Marquette Miners got a stellar performance from pitcher Jerry Cherry, who handcuffed the Tacoma offense en route to a 1-0 win at Ballpark of Tacoma. Marquette reliever Jerry Cherry was credited with the win, to go to 2-1. Michael Leonard took the loss for Tacoma. Tacoma's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
Marquette used the timely hitting of Eduard Argelander to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Miners on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Marquette manager Christos Galpin said.
