Chicago right-hander Valentin Calhamar was sensational in shutting out the Greenville 84s, 2-0. Shang-de Fu was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 16 save opportunities.

Chicago relied on the hitting of Melvin Thomas to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Silver Sox on top, 2-0. For the game, Thomas had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager John Bosma.
