Flamingos Stumble, Lose to Silver Sox
|
Chicago third baseman Melvin Thomas was instrumental in his team's 8-2 win over the Las Vegas Flamingos. Thomas, who finished 3rd in the PL in hits with 136 last year, went 3-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Silver Sox. Lewis Carter, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 3-1. Chicago is now riding a 4-game win streak.
The outcome might have been different for Chicago, had it not been for Víctor Cuevas, the 30-year old left fielder . Cuevas stroked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put Chicago up, 2-0. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Chicago manager Brett Reichert.
