Hot Start Continues for Nationals
|
The Ottawa Nationals topped the Bethesda Atoms, 6-3, with designated hitter Alex Warner playing a big role. Warner went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Nationals in the win. Iván Polanco earned the win for Ottawa. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. Jim Maxwell earned the save, his 3rd.
The Nationals beat the Atoms in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out double Travis Ladd produced in the bottom of the sixth. Batting against Bethesda pitcher Ángel Franco, Ladd gave his team a 5-3 lead when he hit a 2-run double.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Ladd told the Ottawa Citizen.
The Nationals keep rolling, raising their record to 6-2.
