Houston starter Marvin Martin put a stranglehold on the Brooklyn offense. The right-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the 1837 BBC to a 5-0 win. Houston's record now stands at 58-49, placing them 4th in the Third League.

The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the sixth inning, but Martin was able to pitch out of a jam. With runners on 1st and 3rd and Brooklyn trailing 2-0, Martin retired Aaron Day, who struck out.
