Patriots Topple Rainbow Mermaids with Late Rally
Boston beat Northern Virginia at Dunkin Donuts Park, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to catcher Alfredo Araújo, who earned player of the game honors. He was 4-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Rafael Herrera in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Yoriyoshi Sugimoto took the loss. The first-place Patriots have won 5 consecutive games.

Araújo had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a first pitch cutter from Yoriyoshi Sugimoto, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Patriots a 4-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Araújo.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Boston manager Tyler Carter.
