Big Day by Martí Ignites Patriots Win
|
The Boston Patriots topped the Chicago Silver Sox, 9-3, with left fielder Juan Andrés Martí playing a big role. Martí was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3 for the Patriots in the win. Alberto López got the win, improving to 1-1. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 1. The Patriots, with just their 2nd win so far in 2040, have yet to catch fire.
In the bottom of the first, Tyler Bowen hit a 3-run home run for Boston. The 3rd home run of the season for the Boston first baseman put the Patriots on top, 3-0.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Bowen, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
