Coeur Edge Dodgers, 5-4
|
Brooklyn center fielder Alexis Raimbault had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Raimbault went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as St. Louis beat the Dodgers, 5-4. Raimbault was named the player of the game despite the loss. Ernesto López, the winner, improved to 9-5. He held the Dodgers to 2 earned runs on 3 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 4. Denie Ulderink was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 19 of 21 save opportunities.
St. Louis took a 5-3 lead on Jaime Soto's 23rd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Soto hit in the top of the ninth, left Brooklyn pitcher Tom DeHart shaking his head.
Soto told a St. Louis Citizen reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
St. Louis has an impressive 71-27 record.
