Dodgers Prevail, 2-0, Over Panama City
|
The Brooklyn Dodgers and Panama City Piranhas put on a pitchers' duel at The Tank.
Brooklyn right-hander Rod Watts was in fine form, shutting out the Panama City Piranhas, 2-0. Watts went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 4-4. Maverick Handley, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
The result might have been different for Brooklyn, had it not been for Phil Sherman, the former first round draft pick . Sherman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Brooklyn up, 1-0. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Sherman.
Brooklyn has now won 3 straight, while the Piranhas have lost 4 in a row.
