Lakers Get Close Win Over 1837 BBC
|
The Lakers had to overcome a fine effort from Houston pitcher Robbie Betchley to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Houston Grounds. Betchley went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Harvey Wyles picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-5. Roy Lowe was tagged with the loss. Echo Park has run its win streak to 5 in a row.
Echo Park used the clutch hitting of Philip Todd to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lakers ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We did enough to win," said Todd.
