Extra-Inning Win by Lighthouse over Divided
|
Fans who congregated at Washington Stadium were treated to extra-inning drama.
The Long Island Lighthouse topped the D.C. Divided, 11-9, in Menard's Third League action at Washington Stadium. The player of the game was Long Island pitcher and Perris, California native Onson Sweemey. Long Island reliever Michael Esposito picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Yushua Wazir was saddled with the loss.
The result might have been different for Long Island, had it not been for Jonas van Claveren. The second baseman produced a run-scoring walk in the top of the 17th inning to put the Lighthouse ahead, 11-9. For the game, van Claveren had 2 doubles and 2 singles in 8 at-bats.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," van Claveren said after the game.
The second-place Lighthouse improved to 49-33.
