Portland right-hander Giovanni Mireles made an effective start against the Las Vegas Flamingos at The Strip, leading his team to a 3-2 win. The win was credited to Ron Rouse in relief. His record improves to 6-1. Burm Snart took the loss. The Evergreens move to 29-34 with the win, while the Flamingos drop to 21-42.
The result might have been different for Portland, had it not been for Amon-Ra St. Brown. The first baseman produced a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Evergreens ahead, 2-0. For the game, St. Brown had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Las Vegas manager JJ Hoban. "But we decided not to take it."
