Supernovas Score Late to Upend Lynx, 7-4
|
The Supernovas had to overcome a fine performance from Calgary pitcher Xiao-shuang Wong to grab a 7-4 win at Lynx Stadium. Wong allowed 2 earned runs over 5 innings. The win was Alfredo Franco's in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Haweeyo Nasteexo took the loss for Calgary. The 8th-place Lynx have lost 4 consecutive games.
Scranton used the timely hitting of Bill Stanton to capture the win. The pinch hitter stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Supernovas on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but he made it count.
In comments to the Scranton Herald, Stanton insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
