Dodos Get One-Run Win at Alloway
|
The Alloway Halberds got a superb performance from pitcher Ken French, but the Hialeah Dodos still won the game, 6-5. French was named the player of the game despite the loss. He came in in relief and pitched to 18 batters . Nicolaas de Jongh, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 2 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 5-7. Kenneth Ferrell closed the game out for Hialeah, earning his 8th save.
Hialeah left fielder Manuel Ruíz contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a changeup into right field for a 2-run single. It was his 54th hit of the season and put the Dodos ahead, 6-0.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Ruíz said after the game.
The Dodos are now 27-50, while the Halberds fall to 39-38.
