The Tortolita Drummers defeated the Memphis Redbirds, 5-2, in USSL Triple A action at Drummers Ballpark, with Tortolita pitcher Will Hoffman named player of the game. Hoffman, now 3-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 1, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Jerry Magee was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Jin-yong Myung chipped in for Tortolita with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Hoffman said.
The third-place Drummers now have a 5-game winning streak.
