Redbirds Turn Back Forest City, 8-7
|
The Forest City Warriors got a superb performance from shortstop Axel Ruschmeyer, but the Memphis Redbirds still won the game, 8-7. Ruschmeyer was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Roberto Cabrera, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 1-2. Memphis is third in the Silver AAA with a record of 32-27.
Warren King had a key at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Memphis. With the bases loaded and the Redbirds leading 7-3, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Forest City manager Ramón Pantoja. "The effort was great."
