Halberds Slip Past Tortolita, 5-4

Alloway left fielder Brenton Winston made his presence felt in the 5-4 Halberds triumph over the Tortolita Drummers. Winston was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. Alloway reliever Jason Hartridge picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Nam Yee Yong was collared with the loss. Alloway is 6th in the Silver AAA with a record of 29-29.
Alloway used the timely hitting of Nikolai Volkoff to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Halberds on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Volkoff told the Alloway Chronicle.
