|
The Vermont Lake Monsters beat the Memphis Redbirds, 6-2, at Monster Field. Vermont first baseman Dragoljub Kandic earned player of the game honors. He collected 1 single and 1 double, while driving in 2 runs. The win was René Fontaine's in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Wilford Barnes took the loss for Memphis. Alfonso Hadalgo earned the save, his 3rd.
Álex Chávez, who is tied for 7th in the SAAA in triples with 2, aided the Vermont cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the shortstop drove in one run.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Chávez. "And not try to do too much."
With the victory, the Lake Monsters record now stands at 29-22.
