Redbirds Fall Short, 2-1, at Tortolita
|
The Memphis Redbirds got a superb performance from pitcher Wilford Barnes, but the Tortolita Drummers still won the game, 2-1. Barnes was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. The winner was Valentyn Hochmiller in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Wilford Barnes took the loss. Kabeya Kasongo recorded his 8th save for Tortolita.
Scotty Glenn aided the Tortolita cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder was 2-4 with a double.
Glenn told the Tortolita Chronicle: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
With the win, Tortolita has a record of 19-22. Memphis falls to 24-17.
