Halsall Takes Charge, Blanks Hollywood
|
There was no spell, no black magic -- just good pitching.
Alan Halsall of the Las Vegas Flamingos blanked the Hollywood Shredders, 1-0, at The Hollywood Bowl today, and he did it the old-fashioned way. After finishing the 3-hit, complete-game shutout, he was all smiles.
"I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game," Halsall said. "I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance."
Halsall walked 2 and struck out 1 in the victory.
"He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes," Shredders manager Bill Cheese said later.
This year Halsall has compiled a 1-6 mark with a 6.47 ERA.
