The Baton Rouge Brass defeated the Texas Bronze Sox, 10-8. Earning player of the game honors was left fielder José Soriano, who went 2-3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The winner was Gilberto Chávez in relief. His record improves to 5-2. Arlen Chesnutt took the loss. David Flowers converted his 20th save in 30 tries.

The Bronze Sox had been locked in a 5-5 tie with the Brass going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old center fielder Dean Shamakani came to the plate. Shamakani hit a run-scoring double on a 1-1 fastball from Texas hurler Chris Douglas. It was Shamakani's 31st double of the year.
