The Bloomington Longnecks beat the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes, 5-4, at Crane Field. Bloomington shortstop Clay Myers earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jason Poulter was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 5 walks and 2 strikeouts. Bloomington, now 55-43, holds 4th place in the Premier AAA.
It could have been a different outcome for Bloomington, had it not been for Pedro Gutiérrez, the 31-year old right fielder . Gutiérrez contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the second inning to put Bloomington up, 3-2.
"Feels good to get the job done," Gutiérrez said after the game.
